Compliment them on it. “You did a great job at that sales presentation last week.” “Way to go to baseball practice, even though you didn’t feel like it.” “Mom, I heard you got a big award; congrats!” Coach’s Corner: Kindness is made up of the three distinct elements we are practicing during the Challenge—avoiding negativity, expressing affirmation, and taking actual actions of kindness and generosity. Do you know which you already do well, and which you most need to work on? Many people don’t; but The Kindness Challenge research found that practicing each day is the best way to become aware. (Even better: log in your notebook what you try each day, what happens, and what you think works best as you go.
